The Scenario Planner 2.0 gives you an even more powerful way to guide business owner clients through critical decisions. Use Sliders for a quick, high-level comparison with instant insights, or choose Black Box for a detailed, question-by-question breakdown to identify key focus areas.
Before you begin, please make sure your client has completed a Value Builder Score to access the Scenario Planner.
Getting Started
Step 1: Accessing the Scenario Planner
- Log in to your account.
- Navigate to a contact with a completed Value Builder Score.
- Go to the Scenario Planning tab. Click on the Create New button.
- Choose your preferred version:
- Sliders – Quick adjustments for high-level discussions.
- Black Box – In-depth insights driving strategic conversations.
Using the Sliders Scenario Planner
The Slider Scenario Planner allows you to adjust variables dynamically to visualize impact.
Step-by-Step Guide
Customize Settings
- Click Customize View to toggle values presented to the business owner.
- Select the figures you want to account for in the Potential Estimate of Value.
- You can edit your potential Estimate of Value using one of the following options:
- 3-Year Weighted Average: Takes your past three years into consideration, with the most recent years having more weight. For more information on the algorithm, click here.
- Last Year: Only considers your most recent year.
- Future Projected: Allows you to input a custom number based on expected future earnings.
Adjust Sliders
- Move the sliders to modify driver scores dynamically.
Save Your Scenario
- Click Save to ensure your changes are stored.
Preview the Scenario
- Click Preview to generate a client-ready version.
Share with Clients
- Click Share Scenario to invite clients to interact with the scenario or generate a shareable link.

The Black Box Scenario Planner offers deeper insights by exploring key valuation drivers.
