What’s the Deal with Bots?
Many modern email systems — especially at large corporations — scan incoming emails with bots. These bots open emails, click on links, and check attachments to ensure everything’s safe. That’s great for security, but not so great for your engagement data.
These automated actions can inflate your open and click metrics, making it look like your audience is super engaged… when it’s actually a robot doing the clicking.
Enter: Bot Filtering
To bring you cleaner, more reliable engagement metrics, we’ve launched Bot Filtering on all tracked emails. This update uses smart detection methods to screen out common bot behaviors and security scanners so you can focus on what real humans are doing.
Here's what you’ll notice:
- More Accurate Metrics: Fewer false positives = better insights.
- Smarter Click Tracking: Engagement numbers will now more closely match reality.
- Confidence in Reporting: Make better decisions backed by truer data.
You might see a drop in open or click rates compared to before. Don’t panic! That’s not a decrease in interest — it’s an improvement in accuracy.
What’s Considered a Bot Click?
We’re filtering out behaviors like:
- Clicks from known security scanning services
- Engagements that happen milliseconds after delivery (a human couldn’t click that fast!)
- Multiple identical clicks from the same IP within seconds
We’re constantly updating our filters to stay ahead of new scanning behaviors.
Why This Matters
Your emails are powerful. Whether you're sending follow-ups, onboarding new customers, or sharing insights — you deserve to know how real people are interacting with them. This update ensures you get that clarity.
