You already know that each contact in your list is different.
But if you have thousands of contacts on your list, how do you make sure your emails are personalized and tailored to each recipient?
Here’s how:
TAGS.
As part of a recent release, we have added tagging capabilities on the individual contact level. Tagging is one of the easiest and most effective ways to start segmenting your contacts to better manage your growing contact list. Using tags, you can keep your contacts organized, and in Q2 will be able to start sending highly targeted emails to segmented lists of your contacts.
With tags, you can now bring in your own contact structure into The Value Builder System™ and label contacts based on data you know about them. Tags are highly customizable, so you can create and assign them to your individual contacts as you see fit.
In this article, you’ll learn the basics of tags and how you can use them to organize your contact list.
About Tags
Think of tags as labels for your contacts that help you stay organized. In the portal, tags are a way for you to label, or categorize your contacts based on the information you have about them (ex: personal characteristics or how they interact with your email content).

How to Use Tags
Tags are completely customizable, so you can use them however you need to. You might want to create a comprehensive tagging structure to organize all your contacts, or you might just need a few tags as a lightweight way to identify some key contacts. Either way, tags give you the flexibility to bring the system that works for you and your business into The Value Builder System™. Tag names can correspond to the information requested, events attended, membership programs, relationship status, and more.
Add and Manage Tags
There are a few ways to work with tags. You can create new tags through Settings > Marketing Management > Tags (if you are the Company Manager) or you can create them "on the fly" when you are on a contact record. As a company manager, you have access to manage tags including, editing, merging, and deleting.

Edit Tag
If you are a company manager, you will have access under Settings > Marketing Management to manage tags. To edit the name of a tag, click on the 3 vertical dots on the right-hand side of the screen, select Edit, and update the name of the tag. Once saved this tag will update on all contact profiles it has been used.

Merge Tags
To merge tags, click on the 3 vertical dots on the right-hand side of the screen, select merge, and then merge the selected tag into another available tag from the drop-down list. Once merged, all contacts associated with the selected tag will be updated.
