Can a contact have both a Value Builder Engagement and a Growth Plan?
Yes. Advisors can activate both. Contacts can switch between them at any time.
Are exercises from the Engagement automatically transferred into Growth Plans?
No. The two features operate independently and data is not shared between them.
Can I copy an existing Growth Plan?
Yes. When creating a Growth Plan for a contact, advisors can view previously created Growth Plans and select one to use as a template.
Can I add my own custom content?
Yes. Advisors can now add custom content steps directly to a contact's Growth Plan. There are five types of custom steps available: Page, File, Link, Image, and Video.
What types of custom steps can I add to a Growth Plan?
There are five custom step types:
- Page - Create a page-style document for the contact to read directly within the portal.
- File - Upload a file for the contact to view and download.
- Link - Provide an external URL to direct the contact to a specific webpage or resource.
- Image - Upload an image for the contact to view and download.
- Video - Upload a video for the contact to watch and download.
How is a custom step marked as complete?
Custom steps must be manually marked as complete by either the advisor or the contact. Contacts can mark a step as complete directly while viewing the step, or from within the Growth Plan itself.
Note: Unlike Value Builder steps, custom steps are not automatically completed.
What is the difference between a custom step and a Value Builder step?
Value Builder steps are pre-built, multi-level steps created by Value Builder, each tied to one of the 8 key drivers of business value. Custom steps, on the other hand, are single-step items that advisors create themselves to add their own content.
How do Value Builder module scores appear in the planner?
When adding a Value Builder module step, the planner will display the contact's score for each module from their most recent Value Builder Score.
Can I set deadlines for steps?
Yes. Each step has an optional due date field.
Is there a limit to how many steps a Growth Plan can have?
Yes. Currently, you can only have one of each Value Builder module step active at a time. For custom content steps, there is no limit.
Can a business owner see their Growth Plan?
When creating a Growth Plan, the status is set to be hidden from the business owner by default. Once it’s been manually shared, business owners can access their Growth Plan.

Is there a file size limit for custom steps?
Yes. Each custom step type has its own maximum upload size:
- File — 20 MB
- Image — 20 MB
- Video — 100 MB
- Page — 100 MB
